  "title": "Global Human Modification (gHM)",
  "description": "Theobald et al. Global Human Modification (gHM): a cumulative measure of human modification of terrestrial lands, expressed as a continuous 0–1 index at ~1 km resolution circa 2016. The index integrates the physical extent and intensity of human stressors (settlements, agriculture, transportation, mining/energy, electrical infrastructure) into a single per-pixel value where 0 = no modification and 1 = fully modified.\n\nThis collection provides two cloud-native representations derived from the source raster (originally distributed in World Mollweide, reprojected here to EPSG:4326):\n\n- **`ghm-cog`** — a WGS84 Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF of the 0–1 index (for titiler/XYZ web maps and raster analysis).\n- **`ghm-hex`** — an H3 hexagonal aggregation at native resolution 8 (partitioned by h0). Each cell holds the coverage-weighted **mean** gHM of the source pixels it covers (the index is an intensity, so mean — never sum). Native `h8` is the catalog's standard join key, so this layer joins directly (`h8 = h8`) to the other res-8 hex datasets.\n\n**Aggregation note:** gHM is a per-area intensity (0–1), so aggregate cells with AVG/mean (optionally area-weighted), never SUM.",
